Stay informed about website changes with instant email notifications. Email alerts require a Distill account—simply sign in to get started. Your signup email address is automatically configured as your primary notification email, though you can add additional addresses as needed.
How to add/remove email actions?
Configure email notifications for any monitor directly from the Options window:
- Navigate to the Actions section and click “Add Actions”, then select “Email” from the available options.
- Add email recipients using the “+” button, or remove existing ones with the delete icon next to each email action.
The caret icon on the email field reveals a dropdown menu listing all your configured email addresses. With multiple addresses added, use the built-in search bar to quickly find the one you need. The “Manage Emails” option provides centralized control to add or remove email addresses across your entire account.
For quick access, you can also add or delete email actions directly from the watchlist using the caret icon.
How to add additional email addresses to an account?
Managing multiple email recipients is straightforward:
- Sign in to your account at distill.io
- Access settings by clicking the cog icon
- Navigate to “Emails and Phones”
- Your primary email matches your signup address. Use the text box to add additional email addresses.

Alternatively, access the same functionality through the “Manage Emails” option in any monitor’s actions section.
Add unlimited email addresses to receive notifications for monitored changes. Each new email address receives a verification link from Distill to confirm ownership before alerts begin.
How to set a custom email alert subject?
Personalize your email alerts beyond the default format [ Labels ] Alert: [ Monitor name] to better organize your inbox.
- On the options page, click “Add action” and select an email address
- Click “Show Options” to reveal the custom subject line text box
Enhance your subject lines with dynamic placeholders:

Example use case: Tracking auction sites across categories like fine wines, jewels, and paintings becomes easier with custom subjects:

Steps to set email action format
Customize how changes appear in your email alerts to match your preferences:
- Navigate to settings using the cog icon
- Select “Actions” from the menu
- Configure your preferences on the “Email Action Format” page
Choose your preferred change display format:
- Inline view - Changes shown in a single, continuous view
- Split format - Side-by-side comparison of old and new content
- None - Hide deleted text, showing only additions
Additional display options:
- Background highlighting - Color-code additions and deletions for quick identification
- Content snipping - Focus on actual changes by hiding unmodified content far from the changes
- Click “Save” to apply your formatting preferences.

How to stop receiving email alerts?
Stop email alerts for a particular monitor:
Identify the monitor by checking the subject line of your email alert—it includes the monitor's name by default. To disable alerts for a specific monitor:
1. Find the monitor in your watchlist using the search bar
2. Click the down caret icon
3. Select "Edit Options"
4. Click the delete button next to the email action
This removes email notifications for only that monitor, leaving others unchanged.
Delete unwanted global email alert action:
Global actions apply to all monitors in your watchlist. If you're receiving unwanted alerts across multiple monitors, check your global settings:
Click the hamburger icon → Select "Global actions" → Delete email action → Click "Save"
Stop email alerts to a specific email address:
Receiving duplicate alerts across multiple email addresses often indicates separate Distill accounts for each address. To resolve this:
1. Identify which account is linked to the email address receiving unwanted alerts
2. Sign in to that specific account
3. Access the email alert settings
4. Remove the email alert action from the affected monitors in your watchlist
